Message In A Bottle

I’ve been trapped on the island of busyness, leaving updates few and far between. So, this update is for anyone out there who happens to find this. To whoever doesnt know by now, I’ve been back in the southeast for awhile. I dont know why I thought Los Angeles could hold me, but I tore through it pretty quickly. As soon as I got what I needed, I wasted no time shifting my direction towards getting my first major production off the ground. I’m aiming for a summer shoot in Tennessee... [Continue]

A Perfect Getaway Premiere

I’ve been trying to keep up with screenings around town but I wasn’t really paying attention when I got my confirmation for the world premiere of ‘A Perfect Getaway’ in Hollywood at the Cinerama. This was the biggest film industry event I have been to, to-date. I wasn’t sure how early I was supposed to be there so I got there about 45 minutes early and the line was already huge, and it was an rsvp only event, lol. It wasn’t a big deal though, because the theater... [Continue]

Nevermore

My friend Stacie Ponder hit me up to see if I wanted to catch Jeffrey Combs’ Edgar Allen Poe play ‘Nevermore’ so of course I was all over that. Shortly after arriving, she mentioned that she was there to cover it for Rue Morgue Magazine. No. big. deal. Oh wait, yes it is. :D Just after we realized that Dee Wallace was there(!!!), the host found us and practically dragged us (lol) up to the reserved seats at the front of the theater so we could be close enough to “see the... [Continue]

Orphan Screening

The entire day was like a dream. On the way to the beach (previous post) there is a highway with an entirely separate section of lanes in the middle for fast-pass carpoolers (or whatever) that ascended up to this crazy huge overpass that ran parallel instead of perpendicular, while the rest of the highway descended underneath it as it is held up by these ginormous concrete pillars. It’s unreal. I want to film it eventually. Finally reaching the pacific was very surreal and serene. My heart... [Continue]

My apartment is pretty awesome, with the exception of their rental payment system. The management office is about 20 minutes away and rent either has to be mailed or dropped off. They seem pretty nonchalant about rent being sent through the mail, but what am I supposed to do if it gets lost? Pay even more money until I track it down? So I had tracking tacked on and of course the delivery never gets confirmed. I was kind of freakin out about it until I finally got it confirmed by phone with the management... [Continue]

Cali Skate Party

Shortly after the ‘Rialto Fiasco’ I went out to Claremont for a huge party with a half pipe and live bands in the back yard, that is, until the sun went down and they had to move the party inside, lol. The cops made an appearance but nobody actually cared, haha. The party was very Lords of Dogtown-esque. So, another shout out to the Rialto crew for a fun night. There are more photos on my twitpics and my facebook accounts… I don’t like to keep photos all in the same... [Continue]

I headed out to an outer(?) suburb of LA on friday to kick it with my friend Jennifer (hella!) and to start off the holiday weekend right. We went out to see the Rialto Death Brigade Force rock the house. It was pretty tight. Big ups to the Rialto crew. Here’s some pics: Oh and check out the future man on his space machine:  Read More

One of the first things I noticed when I got here were the massive amounts of ads for movies posted everywhere. It would be nice if whoever was posting these could include them in their online marketing campaigns. They might be online, but if I havent seen them, I cant imagine how much easier it has been for the casual internet users to stumble across them. I would like to be able to take more pictures of these myself, but I’m never out of my car when I see them. This one just happens to be... [Continue]

Ludlow Premiere

This post is a little late, but just before the screening at USC, I was invited to the premiere of / party for Stacie Ponder’s ‘Ludlow’ near North Hollywood on the 24th. So that was last Wednesday and it was alot of fun. Stacie is a columnist for AMC and runs her own site, Final Girl, as well as being a filmmaker. I had been talking to her online for about a year, so finally meeting in person was cool. I also knew-of about half the people who were there. Spooky Dan (formerly?)... [Continue]

Grace Screening at USC

Almost as soon as I finished unpacking, I saw the invite for the screening of the horror film ‘Grace’ at USC and sent in my RSVP. I had a good feeling that the filmmakers behind it would make an appearance and a few days later the announcement was made that they would be there, so that made it all the more interesting. Adam Green (Hatchet) was there as the producer, along with actress Jordan Ladd (Cabin Fever, Club Dread, Death Proof) who starred in the film, as well as other key members... [Continue]

Coast to Coast

Well, I finally made it all the way from Atlanta to Los Angeles. (!!!) Even though I knew I would end up here someday, actually moving here (from Idaho Falls) was about a 6 month process. Once I made it out here, the plan was to stay within a close proximity to the film industry and I unintentionally landed in the center of Hollywood. I was aiming for Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Studio City, Hollywood, North Hollywood, West Hollywood or Sherman Oaks. So, I’m glad I found a great place where I wanted... [Continue]
