The Scream Crisis '98-'99
Synopsis:
When students of a suburban high school are killed at a party, the unidentified murderer is believed to be prowling the area. A group of friends from the school form the AOGK and patrol the community at night while wearing the ghostface costume from movie ‘Scream’, in an effort to scare off the killer and protect their family & friends.
The plan backfires, however, when the killer continues his killing spree while wearing the costume, making sure that there are witnesses before fleeing the scene. A wildfire of accusations begin as the AOGK become prime suspects, some of whom cannot provide alibi’s. When one of their alibi’s are discovered to be a lie, and stories begin to fall apart, no one can be trusted. |
Production Notes:
Wes began to scout locations and even attended theater auditions at his high school in search of actors and actresses for the project so he could make plans and re-write the script to match the talent. As soon as the equipment became available, Halloween ‘98, Wes dragged the first set of people who had agreed to be in the movie, out to a Halloween party in a rural area outside of town, to shoot the climax of the film. A few scenes were shot, but with no control over the party or the people at it, the shoot was Wes’ first defeat and revelation that filming a feature length film would prove to be much more challenging than originally anticipated.
After regrouping and recruiting the help of Anthony Thill, the film was recast with only 1 actor left from the original cast. This time, they cast the film with the most outgoing students at their school and filming became easier as the cast proved to be much more reliable. It was’nt enough to carry the production, however, as
the film was eventually cancelled due to lack of pre-production development (but mostly life), plus an entire tape of footage would become lost forever in the
dark corners of the editing room.
Fun Facts:
1. The video production class was actually held at a neighboring school in a different town. The camera equipment had to be driven all the way to
the neighboring school to check the equipment in before it could be checked back out for the same night. Good times.
2. The killers in the story, 3 of them, whose scenes were lost along with the missing footage, never appear unmasked in the trailer, poster, or any of the stills.
